Kitten Facts

At birth, kittens can't see or hear.   Kittens open their eyes between 4 - 7 days old and begin to develop their eyesight and hearing at approximately 2 weeks.

They learn to walk around 9-15 days old, begin to eat solid food at 4 - 5 weeks and are weaned between 8-10 weeks. With sexual maturity being reached around 5-8 months.

The color of a kitten's eyes will change as it grows older. Burmese kittens will have blue eyes, which will develop into a gold colour.

Kittens begin dreaming at just over one week old.

A group of kittens is called a "kindle."

One reason that kittens sleep so much is because a growth hormone is released only during sleep.
